Lara Kaiser

2022

Lara Kaisers’ (born in 1996, Witten) paintings explore the`how’ of seeing. Her small-scale works are often based on everyday spaces. At the heart of her paintings lie questions of light, surfaces, boundaries and colour. She studied at the Münster Academy of Fine Art and graduated in 2023 as a master student of Cornelius Völker. Her works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions and have been on display at venues including the Kunstmuseum Mülheim an der Ruhr.

“My scholarship on Gotland took place in September 2022. Shortly before I finished my degree, this marked the start of a period of reflection and new beginnings. The opportunity to spend a few weeks working in an undisturbed environment was a valuable experience.”

“I have fond memories of working with Armin Scholler, who helped me organise the exhibition, and Hanna Wärff-Radhe, who opened doors for me, put me in touch with local people and constantly showed me new facets of the island.”

A glass containing several long, curved plant stems stands on a dark surface in front of a wall of square white tiles.
