2020

Torbjörn Limé works with the media of painting, photography, drawing and installation. Place, environment and context are key starting points for his work, which moves between colourful abstraction and documentary references. With an emphasis on colour, form, illusion and perception, his creative practice explores themes centred on contemporary social and economic structures. He lives and works on Gotland and trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm.

“My residency at the Künstler*innenhaus in Dortmund was crucial to the development of my project ‘Die Arbeitersuite’. In this project, questions regarding identity, class, work and nature in a post-industrial context emerged and became key thematic concepts.”

“My research focused primarily on the industrial history of Dortmund and the Ruhr region. The lingering atmosphere of the past, which makes itself felt in a post-industrial present and within the individual, is an important theme for me.”
